1935 Ford Roadster
Jenison,Michigan

First time in a few years and I don’t have a Hot Rod to drive onto the Kentucky State Fairgrounds for the NSRA Street Rod Nationals….ya see over the last year and a half I have sold two cars so I am able to build my dream Hot Rod a 1932 Ford 3 window coupe.I am fortunate thou to have great friends and since my buddy Shane Lile owner of Sewn Tight Interiors of Brooks,Kentucky (who is also doing the interior or my new coupe) already had plans to attend the 75th Anniversary of the Sturgis Bike Rally,he wouldn’t have need of his 1948 Ford Pickup. Shane’s sweet little pickup gave me great transportation back and forth to the fairgrounds each day from our hotel along with dinner each night.I was also enlisted to help with the photo shoot of Shane’s Blown T Sedan along with his Dad since Shane was out in Sturgis, our buddy Paul Marteniz (Editor and Photographer) for Rodding USA also needed a ride around the fairgrounds and to our shoot spot on Friday.Even with the pickup I do a lot of walking during the Nationals (I need to get me one of those FitBits to monitor my steps) talking with old and new friends. My favorite stop of the weekend is under a very large tent set up by the Louisville guys “The Blue Oval Bunch” some of the best Hot Rods in the country along with a long list of my favorite 32 Fords park their all weekend, not to mention lunch is better than anything on the grounds. BBQ,hamburgers, hot dogs plenty of side items and sweets (theirs a tip jar to ensure of quality eats the next year) Thanks much to Tim Wells his Dad Bob,Joe Hurley and Billy Winburn for the invite. On Saturday I made our Shelby’s Hot Rod Roundup Pick, I was on the way inside the Exposition Center with my wife where it’s air condition to take her shopping at the women’s world market set up each year by NSRA.
Andy Behro from Jenison,Michigan brought out his traditional style 1936 Ford Roadster.I absolutely dug this car with the wire wheels, wide whites, red paint the amber driving light and Mooneyes decal on the lower fenders.Andy was really surprised by the pick and really liked our V8 award. Our non-profit Shelby’s Way…goal has always been thru these Roundup picks “Bringing Awareness to Suicide Prevention” to give back to the Hot Rod community and with hopes of our picks going back to their local communities a little more informed and help us share our message.
Each one of us are gifted with many talents and those talents come thru Christ,it’s up to us,to use those talents to help in anyway we can to help others. Our first fruits go back to Christ and to further his kingdom, that’s how we bring Glory to God and show our Thankfulness. We can give our time and talents in many ways….it maybe as simple as helping a Brother Hot Rodder paint or repair his hot rod or may come from donating our abilities to raise money for a individual or organization. No mountain can be built by one rock it takes many!
God Bless my friends and I will See ya Soon at the next show.
