1959 Chevy Corvette

First day of the Street Rod Nationals 2013 our pick for the Roundup was Ronnie Skaggs and his 69 Chevy S/B Fleetside Pickup and I had know idea what my pick would be for the second day yet alone the third day,but God did.Ya see while I was talking with Ronnie and presenting him with our V8 Roundup award,I noticed two gentlemen listening in on our conversation and eyeing the award Ronnie laid on his truck.I didn’t know these two or what ride was theirs, but I shared with them what the Shelby’s Hot Rod Roundup was about and our non-profit Shelby’s Way.The first gentleman I meet was Ron Sall and I’m sorry to say I can’t remember the others name-we talked for awhile and he shared with me that he lost his Mother to Suicide and Thanked me for Shelby’s Way and brining awareness to suicide and mental health. Now your probably saying…what in the world does the first day have to do with the third day EVERYTHING,because I picked this sweet little brandywine colored 1959 Corvette for our third day pick. The only problem was I couldn’t find the owner,I looked all day long finally I asked a couple, who owns this car?
Just stick around they said and Ron the owner would be right back….remember I had said earlier God new my pick for the third day-and he did.The two gentlemen I talked to on Thursday we’re the same who owned this 59 Corvette, the Spirit was working in a special way that day.I was floored and so was Ron and his friend, but at that moment I new how special this V8 award was to me and to others who have received it.Once their was a time that the metal for this award could have been a car, steel structure to a building, washing machine or dryer. It was then melted down and formed into a 48″x 96″ piece of steel, now this V8 has taken shape from steel, into beauty and purpose. It reminds us all of the message behind it and to share that message with others to save lives. Our lives are the same way as this metal V8,we don’t have to stay the individuals we are now we can be renewed by Baptism and let the a Holy Spirit begin making our lives beautiful.God Bless my new friends and keep building these sweet Hot Rods.
