Rob Jowsay
1931 Ford Model A Coupe
Fremont,Indiana
2016 was a rough financial year for Pam and I…we didn’t get much opportunity to travel for events as in years past (seems like anything that could break around the house did) so finances were strapped.I truly missed going to the Road Rocket Rumble in Indy as a vendor and to be their to present a Shelby’s Hot Rod Roundup award.Naomi and Tom along with everyone else in the Road Rockets Car Club are a great group of folks that we enjoy seeing each year, and the Hot Rod Hullabaloo is lucky to have all our Indiana Brothers and Sisters come down to Lexington for our Saturday Labor Day weekend event.
I am very fortunate to have great friends in the Indy area thou that graciously offered to make a Shelby’s Hot Rod Roundup Pick for us…David Irwin and Jim Linder worked the Road Rocket Rumble for two days searching out their pick for this year.
Rob Jowsay of Fremont, Indiana and his 1931 Ford 5 window Model A Coupe.Rob has had this coupe for about 8 years, but it’s been over the last 4 years that this coupe has turned into the deep maroon hot rod you see here.Rob purchased the car from Patrick Hampton and admits it was pretty rough, but like most of us hot rod junkies he seen the potential of this forgotten beauty.Bringing rubble to a polished gem takes time and Rob spent a lot of late nights in the garage to get this coupe where you see it today.
This 31 Coupe wasn’t Robs first time around the block building hot rods and working on cars, you see like most of us cars have been apart of Robs life as long as he can remember. His Dad built race cars and hot rods in a shop next to there home while he was growing up including a 1934 ford his Dad finished in 1973.
Rob said ” he grew up in the 34 going to car shows with his Dad” and once he was old enough he began to race cars himself, but about 10 years ago the hot rod bug was back and “he does miss racing, but loves hot rods”!
The beautiful body work and maroon paint on his coupe was no accident, because Rob has been in the auto body collision industry all his life. Four years ago a friend Jamie Hall and Rob started AutoKraft Auto Body in Angola,Indiana and myself being a friend of Robs on Facebook I have seen the beautiful paint work that comes out of that shop.
I asked Rob do you have any regrets? And have you ever been effected by a suicide loss? Unfortunately he told me “yes 7 years ago I lost a friend to suicide”. I love that Rob and I share a passion for the Hot Rod Industry, but it’s sad that we share a loss by suicide…that’s a commonality I wish we didn’t share with one another. Rob told me he’s never been married or have kids, but one regret would be “would of liked to have a couple kids”. My friend you are young and you never know where life will take you,but for now since getting the Model A Coupe done he enjoys taking it to shows, having fun and making new amazing friends.
Rob my Brother you have it figured out…enjoy life, live to the fullest, spend time in fellowship with your friends and keep moving forward. (Rob has moved forward,he recently sold the Model A Coupe and has started a new project). I am Thankful to have met Rob,he has become a very good friend and Shelby’s Way supporter, not to mention put me in contact with some great folks,I have used for there services on my own 32 build.God Bless Rob and I look forward to seeing you this year at the Rumble and hopefully get you to Lexington for the 11th Annual Hot Rod Hullabaloo.
