Doug Lewe
1931 Ford Model A Coupe

Each year arriving at the Road Rocket Rumble in Indianapolis is the most surreal process, because of Naomi the organizer of this event for the Road Rockets Car Club. From the time you submit your entry form till you arrive at the Clarion Hotel…I am greeted with a smiling overly happy face of Naomi. She knows exactly what’s going on,where your to setup and the real quick does and don’ts of the event along with where you park your tow rig.You will never get a I don’t know from Naomi. So before the weekend starts there is no issues and after you setup your ready to enjoy the stay. This last year “2015” was pretty much a normal weekend until the late Friday afternoon storm came thru…I tell ya I have never been that wet in my whole life, not even in the shower.I was holding on to the canopies with my dear life while trying to catch shirts from blowing away and get everything covered from the rain.Just as quick as it came thru it was gone, there was so much rain that Naomi was in a ring style float, floating thru the parking lot.Saturday morning came early,it was cool out and in a short time after looking both Friday and Saturday I had my Road Rocket Rumble,Shelby’s Hot Rod Roundup Pick.
Doug Lewe’s 1931 Ford Model A Coupe built straight out of the late fifties and early sixties, short of the Blue paint job and a few other goodies this car is in American Graffiti right away.I know….”Milner’s” iconic coupe is Kool and timeless, but the movie would have not missed a beat with the “Lewe” Coupe for its replacement.
Doug has been around cars all his life 44 years, his Dad always had a Hot Rod or Kustom so the apple didn’t fall far from the tree.Besides Doug’s passion for cars he has worked as a skilled tradesmen at Chrysler for 18 years.
More than a few years back Doug built a really sweet classic T hot rod, pictured here in this article and in 2012 he bought two coupe body’s that were stored in a box car for 50 years,he sold one of the bodies to fund his own personal coupe build.
In classic 50’s fashion Doug and his car club brothers the Road Kings from Kokomo,Indiana spent 10 months building this really Kool Hot Rod.Fallen Angle Kustoms handled the slick blue metallic paint job and since the time the car was ready he has put over 23,000 miles on the odometer. Now Doug knows he still has a job to finish and that’s the interior, after that drive the wheels of the car.
He also wants everyone to know “that building this car wouldn’t be possible without family and friends”.Car Clubs were meant to bring like minded people together that share a common passion and to help one another…not just on a car,but with life.We all know it’s those memories built with those friends and family we will remember till the end of days “Fellowship” that’s what we are talking about,God intended all of us to be in fellowship and community with one another just as stated in the beginning of Genesis of the Bible.Suicide is preventable I believe 95% of the time, but where does your heart lay? In this world? Or Eternity? Seeking life eternally you will find that putting your investments in people bring the most rewards and will save down and depressed lives.Doug shared with me that he has never lost someone to Suicide, and I Pray you never will…God Bless Doug.See Ya at the Rumble.
Here are some build pics of Doug’s Coupe and his Club Brothers were there each step helping….
