Ken Schnieders
1932 Ford Vicky
Ft.Wright,Kentucky
Have you ever attended a Rod Run or National Event and wished you would have taking a closer look at a certain car,or just took the time to walk across the parking lot. I have and Ken Schnieders 32 Sedan is my perfect example, each year I see the car at the NSRA Street Rod Nationals in Louisville,Ky and either I don’t take that short walk over the parking lot to the car,or I walk by thinking I will come back. Will not this year 2014…I was walking up the center isle at the fairgrounds searching for our Shelby’s Hot Rod Roundup Pick…what was different for me this year was that the car just wasn’t setting their all alone, four gentlemen one including Ken were shooting the breeze under a canopy,I stopped and asked if I could set down for awhile and who owned this Blue Sedan?
Ken shared with me that it was his and had owned the car for sometime.I have seen this Vicky in many photos from different events covered by various magazines,so I can tell ya this Hot Rod is no trailer queen…its driven hard and for many miles.I have always wanted a 32 Ford Coupe with the vintage style and stance of Ken’s Vicky and just like Ken I want to drive my Hot Rod everywhere.Take a close look at these pictures and you will see a cracked fender, side glass along with plenty of chip paint and severe road rash…the front splash apron looks like it’s been thru a sand blaster. Now don’t get me wrong I am not knocking this car, more like celebrating this 32 Vickey.
It seems more often than not that a Hot Rod like this 32 would be covered in a ten thousand dollar paint job and interior along with all the latest gadgets, put on a trailer and taken from show to show never to see the asphalt.”You don’t put baby in a corner” show her off,get on the dance floor and boogie…sorry got a little off track there.
During our conversation I discovered Ken lived in Kentucky and invited him to our Annual Hot Rod Hullabaloo in Lexington “Bringing Awareness to Suicide Prevention” Event put on by our non-profit Shelby’s Way.I am glad I had the opportunity to meet Ken,get a up close look at his really Kool car and present him with our Shelby’s Hot Rod Roundup Pick for the 2014 Street Rod Nationals, not to mention have his Hot Rod at our Hullabaloo.
I go to the nationals and other events mainly to meet folks and make new friends, after all it’s that fellowship and community that we all desire. We want to be apart of something bigger and the best part is Hot Rods bring us all together. One day we will be in a much bigger place for eternity.Question…are you ready, have you prepared yourself and you family for that day?I hope so! God Bless Ken my new friend,I hope to see you again real soon.
